BatchProcess 1.6 is now out with bug fixes and a new function “Run Macro” to run any swp macro at any stage of a BP job on all or certain models/drawings.

To run a macro first add it in Tools->Macros, specifying the location, name, and method just like you would in SolidWorks (the method is the module name then a . then the function name, for example Macro11.main). Then in the main BP window click the Run Macro button, start you job, and select which macros to run.

BatchProcess is now a Certified Solutions Partner with SolidWorks. This is a big step for the future of BP; what this means is the software is now supported by SolidWorks, is posted on the SolidWorks website which receives traffic from their customers, prospects and resellers worldwide. Also, BatchProcess will be doing promotional press releases shortly.

The next step is to become a Certified Gold Partner with SolidWorks.

The next release due out Monday now has a fully working Instant Custom Property Editor capable of editing multiple files custom properties in one go, sorting, moving, renaming, deleting and more directly from BatchProcess without the need for the parts to even be open in SolidWorks!

On top of that a new handle feature is a full 640×480px image preview of any item in the list at the click of a button (well, a double-click to be precise). For any item in the list you can double-click to get a large preview of that file instantly!

The new enhancement coming to BatchProcess is the Custom Property Editor; this allows instant editing of custom properties on a single and multi-file basis simply by right-clicking the item(s) in the Model List Control of BP. The custom properties are retrieved and set using the Document Manager so the delay is non-existant and it gives hassle free editing of custom properties. Plans to expand the CPE into searching, filtering and much more.

The new minor release of the full version of BatchProcess now has full support for SolidWorks 2006, beta support for SolidWorks 2009, and a new Save As Filename modification function that can read custom property values and use the values as part of the filename when saving, handy for revision/date control.

Download BatchProcess from the Downloads section and uninstall any previous installs before installing this new release. Read the help file for more information on the enhancements.

Quite a lot of new functionality has been added to v1.4, along with new licensing for a 30 day trial instead of 5.

Following popular demand, a free version of BatchProcess, called BatchProcessXpress will be released shortly. It will feature many of the functions of the full version of BatchProcess, just cut down in some areas. Keep an eye out!
